Valerie June – “Workin’ Woman Blues”

A Tennessee native, Valerie June has genuine Southern charm but isn’t afraid to experiment with her sound.  She shows this in “Workin’ Woman Blues,” when halfway through the song her folk melody and guitars are accompanied by trombone, seamlessly giving way in the last half minute to a full-on brass jazz coda. Her LP Pushin’ Against a Stone will be released May 6 in the UK and Europe.
