Lollapalooza 2013 Line-Up Leaked

28 Mar

ThisSongIsSick.com got a hold of this picture which apparently is an ad of the lineup that got ran a full week and a half before the planned announcement. With the Cure, Mumford & Sons, NIN, the Killers, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, The National, Lana Del Ray, Haim, Jessie Ware, Palma Violets, and many, many more artists, it looks like Lolla wins this year’s festival line-up battle.  Lolla runs from August 2nd – 4th in Chicago.

New M83 – “Oblivion” Soundtrack.

27 Mar

Rather than taking the conventional approach and releasing a follow-up to 2011’s hit LP Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, France’s M83 instead took the unique route (would you expect anything else?) and have been recording the soundtrack to Oblivion.  Oblivion stars Tom Cruise as he is caught on a deserted post-apocalyptic Earth where Morgan Freeman wears menacing sunglasses while he sits in the dark.  But Oblivion aside, M83 thus far still delivers.  The new music is still rooted in the group’s idiosyncratic brand of new wave dream pop, but on a much more “epic” and “Hollywood” scale.  The music is less focused on making a “song” than creating a feeling under which scenes unfold.

Here’s the trailer for Oblivion.  Hits theaters April 12th.

Kanrocksas Line-Up.

1 Mar

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Passion Pit, and Grimes will be playing at this year’s clumsily-named Kanrocksas music festival.  Other artists include Fun., Tiësto, MGMT, and Sublime, which is cool, I guess.

Another Reason Why Haim Will Be One of the Biggest Bands of 2013

12 Feb

Haim, the trio of songwriting sisters, have not disappointed thus far with their unique blend of Fleetwood Mac folk and pop. “Falling,” their latest single, is no exception. The album is due sometime this year.
