Goldroom – “Verano”

13 Aug

Image As one of today’s best DJs, Los Angeles’ Goldroom rarely disappoints with his smooth, disco-influenced remixes and original mixes.  Verano is no exception.  As Goldroom himself puts it, Verano “should be an escape, a pathway to losing your problems for a day.”  It is.  Check it out below.

The Jurassic Park Art Show Wholly Dedicated to People.

We’re embarrassed that we just found out about this Jurassic Park-themed art show held in LA well over a year ago. Regardless, the Just People exhibit deserves our latent attention. By showcasing pieces only devoted to the characters of the dino-flick, Curators gave a unique and humorous perspective on the iconic film.  We’re big fans of the Laura Dern pop art.  Full gallery at UPROXX.

In 1982, five teenage friends (with tongues firm in their cheeks) took a “stern” picture at California’s Lake Copco.  Every five years since then, the men have repeated the tradition.  And plan to continue to do so until they die – “no matter what.”

Polite Fiction – “Portrait” EP

26 Mar

Image

So we found Polite Fiction on Reddit today who “writes every single part” in his music, recording all of it in his apartment.  He says it’s “hard.”  We don’t doubt him.  Drawing parallels to Two Door Cinema Club but with a little more melody, Polite Fiction offers a compelling blend of fast-paced, dance-infused pop rock.  His whole EP is available on his bandcamp for just $3.  Support home grown music, people.  Definitely worth it.

Harrison Ford has officially joined the cast of Anchorman: the Legend Continues which is currently under production in Hawt-lanta, Georgia.  Ford has been cast as (surprise!) an aged veteran newscaster, a la Tom Brokaw.  The Anchorman sequel should be out this summer.
